The Metropolis train, Fly with Imagination, is set to take off today in the theatre lobby. After our talented team of artists (literally) gave this project wings the past two weeks off-site, the train will now settle into its new home at Metropolis for the next couple of months.

In the past week, a shiny black coat has been applied to evoke the image of a throwback steam locomotive. In addition, the da Vinci-inspired balloon took shape, the train’s wings were detailed and more than 100 lights were added in the train car and under the wings. Lastly, if you look closely, you’ll see a nod to the arts and theatre. Through the use of found objects, vaguely iconic scenes from throughout the history of theater were staged, with modern-day twists, on various parts of the train. In part, the arts scenes also harken back to a day when trains brought shows and actors all over the country to perform.

Metropolis is a proud partner of the AH 125 Anniversary celebration and even more proud to be on board with the Train on the Tracks effort. We hope everyone stops by the lobby this summer to use their imagination and come fly with us.
