I’ve never directed a show, commercial, short film – or anything – with kids. It adds a really fun element to the process.

And it’s really cool to watch the adult actors really help the little ones when they need it. The SM and ASM have been helping a lot with the kids and the Child Coach starts soon – so s/he will work with them a lot. But they don’t seem to require a lot of management. They’re incredibly well-behaved, hard working and professional. Not a word I’ve used with lots of other seven- and nine-year-olds.

And cute. Really cute.

There are 31 performances of A Christmas Carol, and there are many daytime performances. To minimize missed school time, we use three actors to play Tiny Tim. And because 31 performances in a month would be a lot for a 6- or 9-year-old.
