Liz Callaway, a true star of Broadway, will be here on February 27. Her career has included starring roles on Broadway in Cats, Miss Saigon, Baby the Musical and in Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along. She’s also literally toured the world singing in concerts, tributes and musical reviews. Needless to say, we’re very excited to have her.

Recently she was kind enough to take a few interview questions from us…

You have a really diverse career. How have you navigated Broadway/theatre, a career as a live and recording artist, film recordings and TV?

I’ve been incredibly lucky to have such a diverse career with so much variety in any given week. As a result, I’m a very tired person!

Do you still have family around Chicago?

I have a few cousins and an Aunt in the Chicago area. It will be very bittersweet performing at The Metropolis this time without my Dad, John Callaway in the audience. He loved Metropolis, and appeared there as well.

Why do you like about performing at Metropolis?

Metropolis is the perfect size venue to perform in. I love performing in a theatre, but it’s intimate enough that I can really connect with my audience. And the sound is great!

What is your most recent work or an upcoming project?

This past year was very interesting- made my Australian debut, and taught and performed in Paris. I wracked up 86,000 frequent flyer miles. I’m about to go on a crazy road trip to Boston, Sarasota, Napa and Palm Springs, CA. Then I’m home for 3 days and then back to California. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to pack everything and still have room for my tennis racquet. I’ll be performing solo shows and with my sister Ann as well as a concert with Stephen Schwartz.
