On more days than most, you can find our stage crew at one of the build spaces, assembling the set for an upcoming show. They build it at the space, tear it down and then build it back up again when it’s ready to be moved to the stage. It’s a big space for big projects. Now that the Married Alive set has found a home on stage, though, a new project has recently made its way to the build space for a couple of weeks.
Let’s just say there’s plenty of room for it.
It’s Metropolis’ AH 125 train! Yes, the small but mighty 2.5′ x 4′ fiberglass engine has pulled into the build space ready to be transformed into a memorable piece of public art.
As part of the Train on Tracks program celebrating the Village of Arlington Heights 125th anniversary, Metropolis is proud to be one of many area organizations participating. Metropolis’ entry “Fly with Imagination” features a timeless contemporary design, equal parts artistic and whimsical. Beginning later this month, it will begin its journey in the Metropolis lobby. All aboard!
We will be posting pictures as our train gets off the ground. Please keep checking back.
Metropolis thanks Artistic Director Robin Hughes, Lead Designer Dustin Efird, Technical Director Eamonn McDonagh and Artist Anna Brazeau for their help in bringing this project to life, as well as the AH 125 committee, Metropolis Board of Directors and Union Pacific.
