DEACON BLUES was born in the twelfth year of the 21st century. These twelve stellar musicians, composers, and educators–-collectively known as The Deacons––share a unique passion for the Becker/Fagen repository, better known to the world as Steely Dan. The genesis of Deacon Blues began when Steven Kikoen created an original jazz/rock collective known as Bebop Daddys. Several members of The Daddys formed a bond which followed them into Deacon Blues. Considered a Daddys fan, Donald Fagen can be seen in many a YouTube video sporting his Bebop Daddys’ “Tee.”

Under Steve’s leadership, and with the addition of Thomas Linsk as main keyboardist/singer, the group reads as a “who’s who” of world-class musicians. Multiple Grammy® winners perform with Deacon Blues as guest soloists; some are permanent group members. Frequent guests and permanent performers include 7-Time Grammy® Winner Paul Wertico (Pat Metheny Group); Hamilton® Drummer Tom Hipskind; Miles Davis, Michael McDonald, and Boz Scaggs’ bassist Richard Patterson; Blues Hall of Fame & Harmonica Wizard Corky Siegel, and many more.
