MUSIC (Grades 1-5)

 

You Can't Stop the Beat: Broadway Showstoppers

All students* (grades 4-12) are invited to audition for an original cabaret written by Metropolis Voice Faculty Tiffany Gates and Nathan W. Brown. Students will be featured in solos and ensembles along with faculty as they sing and dance to some of Broadway’s show-stopping numbers. Auditions will be held Sunday, February 17th. Audition information will be available on the Metropolis website in January.

*interested students do not need to be enrolled in Spring 2019 to audition for this program

  • Grades 4-12,  Sundays 2/24 - 4/14 (7 weeks), 1:00-4:00pm, $350 

 

Beginning Group Piano

Introduce your child to the joy of piano playing in a welcoming group environment. Fundamentals of note reading and proper technique are taught through hands-on activities & games. Our piano lab allows students to work independently or as a group. A great way to prepare students for private piano lessons! Family and friends are invited to a short performance on the last day of class. Required books are covered by the class fee and are students' to keep at the conclusion of the session.

  • Grades 1-2,  Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm, $270
  • Grades 3-5, Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm, $270

Beginning Group Voice

Introduce your child to the joy of singing in a welcoming group environment. Students learn fundamentals of healthy vocal technique, ensemble singing and note reading while singing their hearts out to popular and traditional tunes. A great way to prepare students for private voice lessons! This class will perform in the SOPA Spring Showcase on Monday, May 20th. 

  • Grades 1-2, Mondays 4:30-5:30pm, $245
  • Grades 3-5, Mondays 5:30-6:30pm, $245

 

Beginning Group Guitar

Have fun learning to play guitar in a relaxed group environment. Students learn fundamentals of classical guitar technique, finger-style playing and strumming chords while rocking out to familiar and popular tunes. Practice in class with the supervision of a guitar faculty member and free yourself to play the music you love. A great way to prepare students for private guitar lessons! Acoustic guitar required. Call Metropolis for rental suggestions!
