Acting Playtime 

Through a variety of theatre games and activities students learn how to work together as an ensemble and create fun characters by using their imagination, voice and movement. Students also have the opportunity to develop their performance skills with stories, poems, and monologues. Families are invited to the last class for a final performance.

  • Grades 1&2, Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm, $230

 

Acting Up!

Building from skills that students have learned in Acting Playtime, students work together to rehearse and perform a theatrical piece. In this class students also focus on character development and connecting those characters to the students’ own lives and experiences. This class will be featured in the end of semester showcase on Metropolis' stage. Prerequisite: Acting Playtime

  • Grades 1&2, Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm, $230

 

Acting FUNdamentals

In this class students develop their acting skills through storytelling and movement. Students will be encouraged to use their creativity to develop characters in scenes and monologues. Families are invited to the last class for a final performance.

  • Grades 3-5, Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm, $230

 

Acting Workshop

Expanding on skills developed in previous classes students work as an ensemble through the exploration of folk tales, stories, and plays from multiple cultures. Students will also have the opportunity to explore, evaluate and perform scripts and theatrical works. This class will be featured in the end of semester showcase on Metropolis' stage. Prerequisite: Acting Up or Acting FUNdamentals 

  • Grades 3-5, Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm, $230

 

Acting Techniques

In this class students learn the foundation of acting through games and exercises in character objectives and development. Script analysis and scenework encourage students to work together as an ensemble. This class culminates in an in-class performance.

  • Grades 6-12, Saturdays, 12:00-1:30 pm, $330 

 

Actor's Ensemble 

Building on the foundation developed in previous classes, students expand their skills in physicality, vocal techniques, characterization and script analysis. Students also focus on monologue and audition preparation. Culminating in a final performance, this class provides a well-rounded theatrical education for students interested in pursuing the Theatre Studio Program Gr. 6-12. This class will be featured in the end of semester showcase on Metropolis' stage.  Prerequisite: Acting Workshop or Acting Techniques

  • Grades 6-12, Saturdays, 12:00-1:30 pm, $330

 

Broadway Bound

Through games and activities students learn the basics of storytelling and character development as they relate to musical theatre. Song and dance pieces develop students' vocal and movement techniques. Families are invited to the last class for a final performance.

  • Grades 1&2, Thursdays. 4:30-5:30 pm, $230

 

Broadway Players

Expanding on the skills developed in Broadway Bound this class will help students strengthen their ability to combine singing, dancing, and acting in a performance piece. This class will be featured in the end of semester showcase on Metropolis' stage. Prerequisite: Broadway Bound

  • Grades 1&2, Thursdays. 4:30-5:30 pm, $230

 

Broadway or Bust!

In this class students build on their foundation of musical theatre skills while focusing on character development, movement and music terminology. Performance skills are developed through choreographed song and dance numbers. Families are invited to the last class for a final performance.

  • Grades 3-5, Thursdays. 5:30-6:30 pm, $230

 

Broadway Troupers

Expanding on the skills developed in previous classes, Broadway Troupers expands students’ singing, dancing and acting techniques. This class will be featured in the end of semester showcase on Metropolis' stage. Prerequisite: Broadway or Bust! or Broadway Players

  • Grades 3-5, Thursdays. 5:30-6:30 pm, $230

Song & Dance Techniques

This intensive class will get students ready to join any musical theatre cast! Students master song and dance pieces from current and classic Broadway shows, getting experience in a wide range of musical and dance styles. This class will be featured in the end of semester showcase on Metropolis' stage.

  • Grades 6-12, Thursdays. 7:00-8:30 pm, $330

 

Improv

Explore the fun and fast-paced world of improvisation! Students learn to take risks, think on their feet, stay focused and be ready for anything! Students work on creating original characters, interesting stories, hilarious scenes and supporting their classmates.

  • Level 1, Grades 3-5, Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00 pm, $230
  • Level 1, Grades 6-12, Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 pm, $330                                                                                
  • Level 2, Grades 6-12, Mondays, 6:00-7:30 pm, $330 (Prerequisite: Faculty Recommendation)

 

Theatre Studio Program

This intensive, invitation-only program is for dedicated students. In a collaborative process, students focus on developing real characters with emotional connections, honing their voice and movement skills, and working as an ensemble. Students must be recommended for Theatre Studio Program by a faculty member. A year-long commitment to the program is required.

  • Grades 3-5, Saturdays, 11:00-12:00 pm, $230 (per semester)
  • Grades 6-12, Saturdays, 11:00-12:30 pm, $330 (per semester)

Prepping for an audition, speech tournament or work presentation? Receive personalized tips and feedback from our professional acting, music and dance coaches. Weekly or single one-on-one coaching sessions are available for music, drama, and dance and can be customized to your interests. Coaches also provide professional training in public speaking and interviewing. Flexible scheduling options are available for all ages.
