Group Sales Coordinator

Position Status: Part-time Permanent (approx 20-30 hrs/week)

Reports to: Director of Audience Services

The Group Sales Coordinator reports to the Audience Services Director, and is responsible for initiating, administering and maintaining group sales for theatrical productions.

The ideal candidate is motivated, outgoing, organized, committed to excellent customer service and developing relationships in the pursuit of building a robust group sales program. This position coordinates with other departments within the organization in order to fulfill their duties.  Duties and responsibilities include responding to inquiries, answering questions, processing tickets, payments, and contracts, as well as, outreach efforts both from the office and out in the field to build relationships, programs, and sales. The flexible schedule allows for a wide range of other options including theater and related artistic pursuits.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Correspondence via phone and email, with existing and potential clients

  • Prompt processing of contracts and payments, including required follow-up and detailed/accurate record keeping

  • Provide detailed information to groups including directions for unloading, bus/parking instructions, show duration, etc., and send reminders prior to performances.

  • Greet field trip groups on performance days/assist House Manager in seating

  • Send thank you emails following the performances and garner feedback

  • Work with appropriate senior staff members to identify specific performances to target for group sales opportunities

  • Identify potential clients and conduct outreach via phone/email/in person

  • Work with Executive Managing Director and Marketing Director on marketing opportunities, including e-blasts and printed media distribution

  • Coordinate with Audience Services Director and Supervisor on scheduling

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Group Sales or Marketing experience preferred

  • Theatre knowledge preferred

  • Computer proficiency a must - experience with Word, Excel, Gmail

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and self-sufficient       

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple contract/contacts/etc.

House Manager

Metropolis is currently seeking a dynamic and customer service-oriented individual to join the part-time Audience Services staff. Candidates should possess strong skills in front of house management. Associates will receive training in high level customer service and house management procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HOUSE MANAGER (Daytime/Evening/Weekends)

·         Providing superb customer service to all persons who enter the theater and lobby.

·         Managing and maintaining the appearance of the theater, lobby, coat room and restroom areas.

·         Overseeing public safety and emergency procedures as needed.

·         Completing performance reports during every shift.

·         Organizing program booklets and stuffers before and after shows.

·         Setting up and taking down of tables and chairs, as needed.

·         Supervising volunteer ushers.

·         May need to lift up to 40 pounds.

·         Communicating and problem-solving with front of house and production staff.

Qualified candidates should possess strong people skills, adequate computer skills/desire to learn ticketing systems, and a high level of organization. Weekend and holiday availability required. Please submit a resume and cover letter to jobs@metropolisarts.com

 

Beverage Server

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, located in downtown Arlington Heights, is seeking to expand our bar staff. Candidates must be Basset-certified in the state of Illinois, as well as complete the state-required Food Handling Certification. Candidates must have reliable transportation. Performances take place Thursday-Saturday evenings & Sunday matinees, with occasional special events Mondays - Wednesdays. Weekend and holiday availability is a requirement for this position. The Metropolis bar serves wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee, tea and water. Bartenders should be outgoing and possess great people skills, as well as be able to work efficiently during high volume show times. The Metropolis bar is cash-only, so math skills and ability to make change on the spot are required. Bartenders are paid a flat rate per shift, as well as any tips that are accrued.
